| 1 month and other stuff |
[03 Jul 2009|12:49pm] |
So my car problem was the key. As soon as it happened last Friday I called my Dad to ask if he had a spare for my car and told him the problem. He ended up finding one and sent it back with my sister who was visiting for the weekend and so Monday night I was able to drive once more. Good thing too, because the storm I woke up to on Tuesday was terrible.
Yesterday marked one month until the wedding. I am both extremely excited and terribly stressed about everything left to do. I can get it all done, I know I can, but a lot of it left is just buying a lot of crap. I need more decorations and stuff for the reception, the rings, favors, gifts...Also really REALLY need to book that officiant. D:
I thought I would be a little more disappointed about missing AX this year, but honestly I'm not really at all. I think Anime Matsuri kind of killed my drive and since then all I've cared about is getting stuff done for the wedding. I'm happy just to be away for the weekend, even if it is just Houston. It gives me a break from stressing because I can't do anything wedding related here.
I hear Anime Overload already sucks, which I totally expected. It might have been amusing to watch it die in flames in person, but I'll just wait for stories and 4chan.

So my car won't start. Well, no, it will start but then it dies after 2 seconds. The problem, I have pretty much decided is the immobilizer. The dumbest reason ever for a car not to start. I mean, really, because some stupid ass computer chip has decided to stop working my car thinks I'm stealing it. Because a Laser cut switchblade key is so easy to recreate...
So I called the dealership to see if they could look at it today, seeing as having a car is beneficial to my life. Also, I HAVE to take it to the dealer ship as they are the only ones that can replace the key. They had nothing available today, or the rest of the week for that matter. The earliest I can have it looked at is Thursday.
Fucking awesome. For the next week I will get to rely solely on the bus system and my own two feet. At least I live withing walking distance of the Sun Harvest, so I can still get groceries.
Hopefully they can have it fixed by the time I get back from Houston next weekend so I will only have to deal with the bus for a week.
On a happier note, Kevin and I got to eat a 5 course meal at this place downtown called Gumbos for free. We talked to the restaurant at the bridal expo last weekend and they told us to reschedule a free meal and talk about the restaurant for our rehearsal dinner.
Yeah, 5 course meal FOR FREE
and it was fucking delicious too. We totally want to have the dinner there, its just up to Kevin's parents whether or not it fits their budget.

| In the last 2 weeks I... |
[23 Jun 2009|12:24am] |
• Went to the Lavender Festival in Blanco. It was disappointing, but the lemonade was delicious • Had dinner with my Dad and Sister • Made Map inserts • Wrestled with the business card paper trying to make registry inserts • Learned my printer is not compatible with business card paper • Addressed and mailed almost all the invitations • registered for almost everything • Bought 9 hurricane lamps (which is apparently funny if you are Cody) • Signed a lease at Le Montreax • Helped Jenny and Beauty move some boxes • Karaoke • Went to a bridal show looking for wedding rings and other stuff (and ate all the cake samples)
And I have so much left to do... I think I might have some down time before the Aisle runner fabric makes it here.

So I went "home" for the weekend per my Dad's request to finish cleaning out my bedroom. As a soon to be wed young woman aparently that means I loose bedroom rights in the house. I learned that I had accumulated a lot of crap over the years of my life. Most of it is now either in the garbage or on a journey to goodwill. The lucky survivors are a rather large collection of Tiggers, a smaller collection of dragons, some high school parephenelia, and 3 sketch books. OH BOY, are those hilarious.
I got to go to PF Changs for dinner and then Bedford Snoball for desert tonight. I realized on the way up here that Bedford Snoball would be open so I told everyone (everyone being my dad and my sister) that I wouldn't leave until I had gotten a snowcone. They are the best snowcones ever, I swear. If you are in the metroplex then find it and eat it...you'll be pleased.
I am very glad I am not bothering with A-kon this year. I know I made that decision a long time ago, but as the date approaches I see that I have much more important things to do and I know that a-kon is always ALWAYS a huge disappointment. I'll be spending next weekend ring shopping and registering for gifts. Maybe trying to put in an application at the Montreax too. Sounds much better than lines, crappy cosplay contests and the ugliest carpet known to man...
I do wonder though, before it gets too OMFG hot, if anyone would be interested in trying to have a picnic or something? Maybe in frilly skirts?

Scrubs has been picked up for a 9th season. Now, I love this show to death, and I was sad to see it end, but it had a good run and watching what WAS the finale was perfect. It ended well, not overly cheesed, realistically and beautifully. It was the last episode of scrubs.
As far as I'm concerned there is no 9th season, because there is nothing that could be done to get close to what they've already accomplished with the show. If their plan is to transition from JD to a bunch of interns then I don't want it.

After requesting 3 and a half days off for Louisianime 5 days off for the Honeymoon and 1 and a half days off for the U2 event of the year I am left with...
3 days off for the rest of the year. I guess I won't be taking Fridays off of work for any more cons this year I'd rather use those last days of freedom for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Oh well...

ANON MEMEI'm curious.
In relevant news, I almost had a car accident on the way to work today. Some jackass though it would be a good idea to try and make it all the way across Lamar when his vision was obstructed by a UPS truck turning off of the right lane. I was in the left, not visible because of MR. UPS. He turns, I break, honk, and swerve on instinct. Luckily I cleared him, pulled into the next driveway and spent 5 minutes regaining my shattered mind. Fun Times.
So Louisianime is in 2 weeks...which means first I need to put in my time off, and second make some shit. I WAS going to make an over the top, neon, icecream themed Deco Lolita monstrosity...but then I realized I had no money and no time...so now I'm making a hippo skirt with suspenders and maybe an OP if I have time. Jenny and I will also be enjoying the Flight of the Cohncords show in Houston on the way to Louisiana. ROW D MOTHA *UCKERS.
Also, U2 tickets came in the mail today. T______T They're beautiful.

Morning routine of checking e-mail and what is waiting in my inbox? Another U2 presale e-mail. I've been ignoring them for the most part since they hadn't even officially announced the Texas dates, but something in the subject line caught my attention.
Dallas, TX, Houston, TX
OH SHI... So I opened the e-mail. The presale started today at 10am for the first tier of members (they did some weird tiered system based on when you joined the site) and it started tomorrow for the tier I am in. Something told me I should try my code anyway, because Tickemaster is dumb as hell and there was always the chance it wasn't working right.
Low and behold I added 3 GA tickets to my shopping cart. And then I checked out. And then I got a confirmation e-mail.
And then I realized I have the potential to be close to the stage of a U2 concert. Goal #1: Win ticket lottery Goal #2: Get to touch Bono (shut up) ( BEAUTY: )

Going to get in your car and finding it has vanished is a terrible experience. Mine had disappeared this morning. Turns out a tow truck came to take it away.
FUCK this apartment complex (not mine) They have maybe 20 visitors spots total, and then residents fill them up so when I got here at 3am after a cosplay bender I had to park in a regular spot.
So I can't visit Kevin at his place anymore, unless its 2pm on a weekday afternoon because thats the only time there are spots open.
200 dollars.
FUCK THIS SHIT

"BREAKING NEWS Downtown death
A person has died in downtown Austin after either jumping or falling from a highrise building at 9th and Brazos Streets, police said. 12:49 PM "
That "highrise building at 9th and Brazos," yeah, that would be my office building.

| HELL YES |
[09 Mar 2009|01:02pm] |
"In September and October, U2 360° Tour will also visit: Atlanta, GA; Charlottesville, VA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Los Angeles, CA; Norman, OK; Phoenix, AZ; Tampa, FL; Washington, DC and Vancouver, BC. Complete Tour and ticketing information to follow."
I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up at 5:30am. My first thought was oh shit, I better get to bed and my second thought was OH SHIT, THE TOUR INFO IS UP. In the initial update they had a Houston date listed as October 14th but it has sense been taken down. If thats the real date then I can only guess that the Dallas date will be either the 15th or 16th. I'm hoping it's that Friday, then I can just spend the weekend at home (and drag Kevin to the concert (< ) In any event, FUCK YES.
And my presale bracket is the second one, so hopefully I'll get access before all the dumbass scalpers.

| A-kon took some advice from it's attendees...for once |
[06 Mar 2009|05:11pm] |
Bored at work and messing around on cosplay.com I ended up finding A-kon 20's cosplay rules.
"Signup for the A-Kon 20 Saturday Night Cosplay will begin on Monday, March 9th. To sign up, the entrant (or group leader for group entrants) will be required to fill out the Cosplay Sign Up PDF form and email it in to akoncosplaystaff@gmail.com. (Please send the PDF as an attached file.) You may also print out the PDF and mail it in to Elin Winkler c/o Radio Comix, 11765 West Ave. PMB 117, San Antonio TX 78216. The deadline for entry forms to be received will be April 3, 2009."
They're not doing on site sign ups this year! Granted, this isn't a fully online process but I am so glad they made this change. Especially after the ridiculous shit that happened last year when it was suggested the do online sign ups.
It goes to further state that there will be 40 pre con sign ups and 10 on site sign ups for walk ons and ALL skits will need to be submitted before hand (for screening plz?!?)
The are, however, not judging craftmanship |: The do have an award called "Most Faithful Recreation" but without craftsmanship judging how can they know that it wasn't just bought off of e-bay or something? You can get a nice explanation as to why they cut the award: here
To me it seems like they're making a real effort to take to heart the problems that were brought up post con last year, so I'll be interested to know how a cosplay contest without craftmanship judging works. Will they still do it and just not call it craftsmanship judging? Will they only see things from stage? I don't know but at the very least I hope they do better than last year.

| Anime Matsuri Group Rate |
[19 Feb 2009|12:49am] |
So pre reg for AM right now is 45 dollars BUT is I find 9(+) more people we can all pay 35! The wonders of Group rates.
The deadline for Pre Reg is March 13th, I would like all payment sent by March 6th. This is how we'll do it, post to join the group with this form:
Name: Handle: e-mail address: paypal e-mail (if different):
If you are a local kid and want to pay me in person then please mention that. I'll send out invoices to everyone /harass you for money. ( list )
According to the website there will only be 2 designated people who can pick up badges. I can (and probably will) be one of them, but depending on arrival time I may ask others to take charge. We can figure that out later. As for now I think I'm planning on either taking the whole day Friday off, or work half a day. (putting me in town either late thursday, or friday afternoon)
